NEW JERSEY LCV MAKES FINAL CALL ON CANDIDATE ENDORSEMENTS

Endorsements provide clear choice on environmental Priorities

TRENTON - New Jersey League of Conservation Voters (New Jersey LCV), the political voice for the environment in New Jersey, announced a slate of five additional local endorsements, capping off their biggest and record-breaking election year. For the first time, New Jersey LCV has endorsed a full ticket of candidates, from governor to local governing bodies.

In addition to the previous 110 candidates we’ve already endorsed, we endorsed the following candidates:

  • ● Mayor Ravi Bhalla for Hoboken Mayor
  • ● Councilman James Doyle for Hoboken Council
  • ● Councilwoman Emily Jabbour for Hoboken Council
  • ● Joe Quintero for Hoboken Council
  • ● Craig Dorsett for Ridgefield Boro Council

“When it comes to clean air, safe drinking water, and open space all of these candidates are committed to bold pro-environmental action to fight climate change and protect our beautiful state for our children and grandchildren,” said Henry Gajda, Public Policy Director of New Jersey LCV, who is leading their PAC effort. “There’s always a lot of attention on the top of the ticket, but we know that all politics is local and we’re proud to add these candidates to our record breaking list of endorsees. This is what a groundswell of support looks like.”

“On behalf of Team Bhalla, we are incredibly proud to accept the New Jersey LCV’s endorsement,” said Joe Quintero, candidate for Hoboken Council, on behalf of Mayor Ravi Bhalla, Councilwoman Emily Jabbour, and Councilman James Doyle. “Hoboken is front and center, feeling the effects of climate change on a regular basis, and we’re committed to taking bold action with resiliency projects including Rebuild by Design, parks with underground flood detention, and moving forward with our Climate Action Plan. If we are fortunate to be elected, Team Bhalla looks forward to working with New Jersey LCV in the years to come to create a more sustainable City for the long-term.”

"I am thrilled to have New Jersey LCV's endorsement! New Jersey LCV has been a champion for New Jersey's environment and the residents who depend upon it, and it is an honor to have an organization like this in my corner as we collectively tackle the climate crisis," said Craig Dorsett, candidate for Ridgefield Boro Council.

Last year, New Jersey LCV, for the first time, endorsed 28 local candidates. This year New Jersey LCV more than doubled their local endorsements – announcing 57 candidates – Democrats, Republicans and Green Party candidates – and is expected to pour considerable resources into getting candidates at all level of government elected in November.

“The people who hold local public office make the critical decisions on issues that directly impact New Jerseyans, from bold climate and justice action, to making sure our homes and businesses are kept safe from flooding, and ensuring we have accessible open spaces for recreation,” added Gajda. “These races don’t get all the flashy coverage, but the impact on families and communities should never be discounted. That’s why who we endorse is so important.”
