Patricia Veres
Patricia Veres is running for election to the New Jersey General Assembly in the 25th District, which covers municipalities in Morris and Somerset counties.
Patricia is a life-long resident of Morris County and has fought hard for her community throughout her career. After graduating from New York Law School, Patricia served as the Public Defender for Denville Township, volunteered for the Legal Clinic at the Women’s Center at County College of Morris and the Battered Women’s Legal Advocacy Project, where she still volunteers today. During law school and in the early years of her career, Patricia balanced the demands of her law practice with raising two young children as a single mother. She fully understands the challenges hardworking New Jersey families face.
In 2016, Patricia was elected to the Wharton Borough Council, where she worked to preserve open space, including the renewal of the Borough Memorial Park and a new dog park, which were widely requested by the community.
Patricia Veres and her running mate Lauren Barnett are running against incumbent assembly members in the 25th District that have not supported crucial environmental legislation such as the Plastic Pollution Reduction Act — the nation’s strongest single-use plastics bill that will cut down on single-use paper bags, ban most plastic bags and Styrofoam take-out containers that plague our natural spaces, smother our waterways, and impact the health of our residents. Their opponents have also voted against the first-in-the-nation comprehensive environmental justice legislation known as the Cumulative Impacts bill, which was hailed as a turning point in helping mitigate the disproportionate effects of pollution in low-income, predominantly Black and Brown communities. This is why we urge you to vote for challengers Patricia Veres and Lauren Barnett, whom we're proud to endorse for Assembly in the 25th District.
