Senator Bob Smith
Senator Bob Smith is running for reelection to the New Jersey State Senate, representing District 17, which covers municipalities such as New Brunswick, Piscataway, and Milltown.
Senator Smith was elected to the Senate in 2001 after serving more than a decade in the Assembly. Before serving on the State House Commission, Senator Smith was the Mayor of Piscataway and served as the Chair on the Piscataway Environmental Commission.
Senator Smith has been a long-time advocate for the environment as he sponsored legislation that focuses on water resource protection, the preservation of the Highlands, and two constitutional amendments to provide stable funding for open space, farmland, and historic preservation. He has also sponsored several clean renewable energy bills, such as pushing New Jersey towards solar and offshore wind energy, creating the Clean Energy Task Force, and committing New Jersey to 80 percent renewable energy by 2050.
We are proud to endorse Senator Smith in the 17th District, and we urge you to vote for him.
