LEADING ENVIRONMENTAL GROUP RESPONDS TO HARROWING HARVARD COVID-19 STUDY
TRENTON – The following statement is from Ed Potosnak, Executive Director of New Jersey League of Conservation Voters, on a Harvard Study that links Covid-19 deaths with air pollution.
“The unjust and disproportionate burden of air pollution became all the more clear in light of this harrowing study from Harvard,” said Ed Potosnak, Executive Director of the New Jersey League of Conservation Voters. “A new study finds that people who live in counties in the US that have higher levels of air pollution are more likely to die from COVID-19. These disparities in health outcomes are unacceptable. Climate action is public health policy. Climate action is economic policy. Without concerted action, things will continue to get worse. Cleaner air benefits us all, especially black, brown, and indigenous communities who are more likely to suffer from higher rates of air pollution.”
