LEADING POLITICAL ENVIRONMENTAL GROUP CELEBRATES SUPREME COURT DECISION ON ENVIRONMENTAL TRAVESTY

TRENTON – The following statement is from Ed Potosnak, Executive Director of New Jersey League of Conservation Voters, supporting the Supreme Court decision ordering Citgo to clean up a 2004 spill made in the Delaware River.

One of the worst environmental travesties in recent history in the Delaware River is now being accounted for,” said Ed Potosnak, Executive Director, of New Jersey League of Conservation Voters. “We applaud today’s Supreme Court decision requiring Citgo to pay $133 million for a 2004 spill that fouled the Delaware River with 264,000 gallons of crude oil. While the US EPA is rolling back regulations and enforcement actions that protect our communities and public health, we are happy to see the courts stepping in to do what’s necessary.”
