Assemblywoman Valerie Vainieri Huttle

Assemblywoman Vainieri Huttle was elected to the New Jersey General Assembly in 2005. She is now serving her 17th term representing the 37th District. 

In 2015, Assemblywoman Vainieri Huttle was named Deputy Speaker of the General Assembly. She also served on the Bergen County Freeholder Board from 2001-2007 and was board chairwoman from 2003-2005.
 
Assemblywoman Vainieri Huttle has sponsored several landmark laws including the Anti-Bullying Bill of Rights, the Human Trafficking Prevention, Protection, and Treatment Act, and the Stephen Komninos’ Bill to protect individuals with developmental disabilities from abuse. She has also led efforts to reform the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey and has been at the forefront of promoting LGBTQ rights. In 2012, she began her Young Women’s Leadership Program, a mentorship program for high school students to learn key lessons in government affairs and leadership development.
 
Assemblywoman Vainieri Huttle served four terms as the Chair of the Assembly Human Services Committee prior to her new appointment as the Chair of the Assembly Homeland Security and State Preparedness Committee. She is also the Vice Chair of the Assembly Labor Committee and a member of the Assembly Tourism, Gaming & the Arts Committee.
