NEW JERSEY LCV SUPPORTS ASSEMBLY BILL TO PROVIDE GRANT FUNDING FOR ELECTRIC SCHOOL BUSES

TRENTON – The following is a statement from Ed Potosnak, Executive Director of New Jersey League of Conservation Voters, supporting New Jersey Assembly bill (A1282), which will require the New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection (NJDEP) to develop and implement an electric school bus program to provide grant funding of $45 million over three years.

“New Jersey continues to have some of the most polluted air in the nation. Cars, trucks, and buses are making people in New Jersey sick, and transitioning to electric vehicles will help reduce emissions from gas and diesel-burning cars and trucks and reduce localized air pollution,” said Ed Potosnak, Executive Director, New Jersey LCV. “This three-year program is a good first step to having our students, especially those who live in already overburdened communities, breathe cleaner air. We look forward to continuing to work with Assemblyman Stanley and Senator Diegnan to get this bill across the finish line.”
