Ed Potosnak, Executive Director of the New Jersey League of Conservation Voters released the following statement on Governor Murphy’s opposition to building a controversial power plant in the Meadowlands.
“We applaud Governor Murphy for standing up on behalf of New Jersey residents who don’t deserve to be subjected to the negative effects of another power plant in their backyards, especially one that would provide no benefit to New Jersey residents,” said New Jersey LCV Executive Director Ed Potosnak. “This builds on other decisions and efforts by the Murphy Administration to deny permits, like the Penn East Pipeline and William’s Transco’s NESE proposal, that do not meet New Jersey’s high environmental standards. With at least 12 other fossil fuel projects currently pending, we encourage the Governor to apply the same rigorous review and hold an equally strong stance opposing these projects. Projects like these negatively affect low income communities and communities of color.”
New Jersey League of Conservation Voters is a non-partisan organization whose mission is to elect environmental champions, hold public officials accountable, and support laws which protect our environment and improve the quality of people’s lives.
