New Jersey LCV Responds to Recent Poll on Electric Cars
TRENTON – The following is a statement from Ed Potosnak, Executive Director, New Jersey LCV, regarding a new Rutgers-Eagleton poll on Gov. Phil Murphy’s plan to phase out the sale of new gas-powered vehicles by 2035. “Electric vehicles save families money and also reduce air pollution and the negative health impacts of pollution like heart attacks and cancer that come from burning fossil fuels. Clearly we need to do a better job of overcoming the profit driven fossil fuel industry opposition to electric vehicles and getting the facts out about the benefits of electric vehicles into the public consciousness because unfortunately they’re listening to the propaganda coming from the dirty fossil fuel companies,” said Ed Potosnak, Executive Director, New Jersey LCV. “EVs have lower operating costs because it is cheaper per mile to use electricity compared to gasoline, and EVs require less maintenance since they have fewer moving parts. Over time, these savings offset the initial higher purchase price, making EVs a money saving, healthier, and safe choice for consumers.”
