NEW JERSEY LCV ENDORSES PRO-ENVIRONMENT SLATE IN LEGISLATIVE DISTRICT 16
New Jersey’s Political Voice for the Environment Endorses Zwicker, Freiman, and Jaffer
TRENTON, NJ- New Jersey League of Conservation Voters, the political voice for the environment in New Jersey, announced its endorsement today of Andrew Zwicker, Roy Freiman and Sadaf Jaffer for election in New Jersey Legislative District 16. Zwicker is running to become the first-ever Democrat to represent the district in the Senate, Freiman is pursuing a third term in the General Assembly, and Jaffer will seek to fill the Assembly seat left open by Zwicker.
“LD-16 has been the head of the spear for environmental protection, that’s why we are proud to endorse Andrew Zwicker for State Senate and Roy Freiman and Sadaf Jaffer for Assembly to continue this important role of championing conservation” said Ed Potosnak, Executive Director, New Jersey LCV. “We work to elect viable candidates, without regard to party affiliation, who put the health of our families and protection of our environment over corporate profits—and the Zwicker, Freiman, and Jaffer team will ensure all New Jerseyans, no matter their zip code, have access to safe drinking water, clean air, and open space.”
“Crafting and supporting environmentally sound policy that leaves lasting positive impacts in our communities has been one of my top priorities since I was first elected in 2015. Since then we have made substantial and meaningful progress in laying the foundation for a more environmentally friendly New Jersey,” said Assemblyman Andrew Zwicker (D-Kingston) "This will be one of the most consequential elections in recent memory as we have a chance to make history again in the 16th District, and I am looking forward to doing so with the support of the League of Conservation Voters of New Jersey.”
“I pride myself on supporting thoughtful and pragmatic policy in the legislature that supports both the health of our environment and economy,” said Assemblyman Roy Freiman (D-Hillsborough). “Investing in the health of our environment is imperative to the success of our state and will benefit future generations of New Jerseyans. I am looking forward to working with the League of Conservation Voters of New Jersey through election day this November.”
“In my time as Mayor I made it a priority to support initiatives at the municipal level that protect our environment,” said Assembly Candidate Sadaf Jaffer (D-Montgomery). “I plan to continue this dedication to environmentally responsible leadership if I am elected to represent the people of the 16th legislative district in the General Assembly. I am proud to have earned the endorsement of the League of Conservation Voters New Jersey and look forward to running a strong and successful campaign with their support.”
“Earning a New Jersey LCV endorsement is not to be taken lightly,” said Julia Somers, New Jersey LCV Board Chair. “Through our multi-step evaluation process, we review candidates’ environmental credentials and vision for the state. We also ask tough questions to ensure their commitment to our goals of protecting the state’s air, water, and lands.”
“As New Jersey embarks on the most ambitious climate agenda put forth by any state, it’s imperative that we have elected leaders committed to achieving our bold vision for the future,” said Henry Gajda, Public Policy Director, New Jersey LCV. “Electing pro-conservation champions in LD16 is a major priority of New Jersey LCV, and Zwicker, Freiman, and Jaffer are the clear pro-conservation candidates. They are committed to protecting the environment for our children and grandchildren, and advancing policies to help build a 21st century green economy, where all New Jerseyans can thrive.”

New Jersey LCV is a nonpartisan organization whose mission is to elect environmental champions, and it is the only New Jersey environmental group with a Political Action Committee (PAC) and Super PAC. We plan to invest $1 million in this year’s election.
