New Jersey LCV decries Van Drew’s offshore wind lies in service of MAGA agenda
TRENTON - New Jersey League of Conservation Voters Executive Director Ed Potosnak has issued the following statement in response to today’s hearing on offshore wind by U.S. Rep. Jeff Van Drew (R-Dennis):
It’s disappointing, but not surprising, that Jeff Van Drew used today’s hearing on offshore wind to again perpetuate MAGA lies that benefit the oil and gas industry at the expense of New Jersey families. Clean, renewable energy - including responsibly developed offshore wind - is critical to fighting climate change, which threatens communities across the Jersey Shore with increased flooding and sea level rise. At the same time, we know that responsibly developed offshore wind will create thousands of union jobs across our state and improve our air quality.
Van Drew is in the pocket of dirty oil and gas companies that are raking in record profits while polluting our air and giving our children asthma and our seniors heart disease. Voters decisively rejected these lies at the polls last year, and we know that New Jersey families want to build a clean energy future that creates economic prosperity while improving the health of the most vulnerable among us, including children and seniors.
This hearing might play well with Donald Trump and his corporate donors. It won’t play well in New Jersey homes.
