New Jersey LCV Applauds BPU for Advancing Heavy Vehicle Charging Infrastructure

TRENTON, NJ – The following is a statement from Ed Potosnak, Executive Director, New Jersey LCV regarding electrifying medium and heavy-duty vehicles. We’re pleased that the New Jersey Board of Public Utilities (BPU) is considering minimum filing requirements to advance charging infrastructure for trucks and buses.

"The Board took a vital step today toward electrifying the largest vehicles on our roads. Transportation remains New Jersey’s largest source of pollution, we’re pleased with today’s important action to advance charging infrastructure for trucks and buses to reduce dirty diesel pollution spewed into our air and to help fight against climate change,” said Ed Potosnak, Executive Director, New Jersey LCV. “Electric fleets can drastically cut greenhouse gas emissions and reduce cancer, asthma, and heart disease causing air pollutants, particularly in overburdened communities of color already grappling with disproportionate health impacts. Investing in zero emissions, clean transportation isn't just about sustainability - it's about creating healthier, more resilient communities for all New Jersey residents."
