NEW JERSEY LCV APPLAUDS BIDEN ADMINISTRATION ON ANNOUNCEMENT OF NEW ELECTRIC VEHICLE STANDARDS
TRENTON – The following statement is from Henry Gajda, Policy Director, New Jersey League of Conservation Voters, regarding President Biden setting a new target for the adoption of electric vehicles (EVs), calling for EVs to represent nearly half of all new auto sales by 2030.
“We’re excited about President Biden’s announcement because it supports what we’re doing in New Jersey to rapidly transition to electric cars and public transportation. Last year, Governor Murphy signed into law one of the most ambitious EV bills in the nation, and it’s great to see New Jersey set the stage for the country to follow,” said Henry Gajda, Policy Director, New Jersey LCV. “New Jerseyans continue to breathe some of the unhealthiest air in the country, especially in our overburdened communities, exacerbated by the localized air pollution spewed by gas and diesel-guzzling vehicles. Increasing the number of electric vehicles on our roads is one of the most efficient and cost-effective ways to reduce emissions and clean our air.”
