New Jersey LCV and Sierra Club Laud Continued Progress on Offshore Wind
New Jersey LCV Executive Director, Ed Potosnak, and New Jersey Sierra Club Director, Anjuli Ramos-Busot, released the following statement in response to the Board of Public Utilities’ decision today to commence a fourth solicitation for offshore wind:
Ed Potosnak:
New Jersey is open for business on offshore wind. The fourth solicitation will provide significant benefits to our families including reduced air pollution, improved public health, good local union jobs, energy independence, and combating climate change.
We commend Governor Murphy and the Board of Public Utilities for continuing to move forward aggressively with their plans to make New Jersey a national leader in offshore wind.
Today’s announcement will protect New Jersey ratepayers throughout the solicitation process and will ensure that the state is able to negotiate the best deal possible with developers while still beginning a process that will create thousands of union jobs and result in cleaner air for our residents, particularly children, seniors and people of color living in overburdened communities. We believe that the future for offshore wind is bright, and we look forward to working with the governor to build a 21st century clean energy economy.
