Phil Murphy
New Jersey LCV was the first environmental group to endorse Ambassador Phil Murphy in his bid to replace Chris Christie as Governor of New Jersey. Phil has a forward-looking vision for the future of New Jersey and knows that we must grow the economy and protect the environment simultaneously if we want to have a prosperous state in which people want to live, raise their families, and visit. His goals of making New Jersey a clean energy leader and investing in our public transportation system will reduce air pollution and cut our state’s greenhouse gas emissions, all while creating good paying jobs for New Jersey’s citizens.
Additionally, Phil wants to make our state a leader in the fight against climate change, which has become even more important given rollbacks happening at the federal level. He has committed to developing a plan to get the state to 100% clean energy by 2050, joining the Climate Alliance to uphold the Paris Agreement, and rejoining the Regional Greenhouse Gas Initiative. By taking these steps, New Jersey will once again become a model for other states to follow for environmental issues.
