Assemblyman Raj Mukherji
Raj Mukherji was first elected to the Assembly in 2013 and currently represents the 33rd Legislative District, which includes municipalities in Hudson County.
Assemblyman Mukherji is the current Majority Whip of the General Assembly. He is a lawyer, healthcare entrepreneur, former Deputy Mayor of Jersey City, and former Sergeant in the Marines. Previously, he was an information technology CEO; municipal prosecutor; and Adjunct Professor at New Jersey City University, where he taught Constitutional Law. He is the Vice Chair of the Assembly Telecommunications and Utilities Committee and has served as a member of the Assembly Budget Committee for six years. Assemblyman Mukherji is presently the only Asian American in the Assembly, the only former Marine in the Assembly, and the first Indian-Bengali state legislator in the United States.
Assemblyman Mukherji was named “New Jersey’s most prolific lawmaker” of 2016 and 2017 by POLITICO because he was a primary sponsor of more bills signed into law than any other legislator, according to GovNet rankings. His bills have focused on economic development and job creation; protecting seniors and expanding their access to healthcare, prescription drugs, and essential services; environmental protection; infrastructure; public safety; veterans; social justice; addiction prevention and treatment; and a myriad of other issues. We are proud to endorse him in the 33rd District, and we urge you to vote for him on November 5th.
