New Jersey League of Conservation Voters (New Jersey LCV) is a bi-partisan organization whose mission is to elect environmental champions, hold public officials accountable, and support laws which protect our environment and improve the quality of people’s lives. We have a major internship opportunity for a high-energy, multi-talented student who is looking for a chance to have their hands in a lot of different aspects of non-profit management and operations. The ideal applicant can not only multi-task, but enjoys it the most when they are able to do a variety of activities and learn about diverse aspects of a job. In this role, you will have a rare chance to see the behind-the-scenes workings of everything from HR support to event planning, and do it at an exciting, energetic organization that is making a difference.  

This is a part-time paid internship from July - December 2024.

Primary Responsibilities - Events and Development:

  • Experience a unique chance to attend and assist in planning major fundraising and donor events including the League of Municipalities Atlantic City conference, quarterly Sustainable Business Roundtables, and annual Legislative Breakfasts; featuring key environmental stakeholders and decision makers.
  • Learn about grant management processes, and how to identify funder prospects and prepare applications for funding.
  • Gain an understanding of, and assist in major donor, foundation, and corporate prospect research, including preparing materials to support current and prospective funder interaction; and help maintain data entry and coordinate report output that provides assessments of fundraising performance.
  • Utilize effective communications skills to assist with gift acknowledgements, fundraising emails, and campaign outreach and appeals.

Primary Responsibilities - HR/Operations:

  • Opportunity to plan and participate in university career fairs representing New Jersey LCV.
  • Assist the Operations Manager in most all aspects of recruitment and job candidate coordination.
  • Learn about policy and procedures development, and assist in human resource systems and tracking.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Excellent oral, written communication, and organizational skills and attention to detail 
  • Personable, dependable team player
  • Ability to work efficiently, accurately, and collaboratively; and to manage short-and long-term deadlines
  • Ability to work remotely using your own phone and computer
  • Familiarity with social media platforms, Google Apps, MS Office, and design programs
  • Commitment to environmental conservation, or interest in political work preferred
     

The candidate must have reliable transportation, a cell phone, and a computer for the position. Interns will work remotely, as well as come to our office in Hamilton New Jersey (ideally) at least once a week, and attend events as needed.  

Compensation: Part-time internships are paid, and we are happy to work with interns for college credit. Compensation is $15 an hour, for 15 hours/week. Letters of recommendation are available upon request.
